Denver!!! (brrrrr!)

Well, I'm back in Denver! After nearly a year, I just had to see my little girls, my nieces - Sonoma and Vivian. I was able to get a cheap flight one day and decided to book it. What's nice about this trip is that Monday is Martin Luther King Day and so my trip isn't just a weekend one. And on top of that, my managers were nice enough to let me work remotely on the Thursday before, have Friday off, and then remotely again the following Tuesday.
My trip to the airport on Wednesday evening was certainly that I would love to forget. My flight was at 8:20pm and so I worked until 6pm. Luigi drove in that morning and so I left my bags in the trunk of his car. I met up with him, grabbed my stuff and headed to the Thompson Center to grab the orange line to Midway. So, I had my little luggage, laptop bag, and camera backpack. I was standing there freezing my buns off, waiting for the orange line to come by. I saw that a train was approaching from afar and it looked like the color of orange. I got on, and easily found a seat. I placed my laptop bag and camera bag beside me and the train started to move. I looked up at the train map and realized that something looks wrong. I soon realized that I wasn't on the orange line but the pink line!! I quickly got up and headed to the door so that I can get off at the next stop. As I left the train - a few seconds later, I felt something was wrong. I looked at what I had and..... MY LAPTOP BAG!!!!! OMGosh!!! I had my work and personal laptop in there. But, the train was already moving away. I turned around and looked to see if there was a CTA worker nearby, and found a guy working behind a counter. As I told him about my dilemma, he got on the phone and called the pink line controller to tell them that a passenger had left their laptop bag, all the while giving me that look, "dude, your bag is gone and you had better get used to it..." After about a few mins, someone radioed back saying that they found a brown bag. Well, my back is black! I was sorta relieved that they found a bag but yet scared cos they said it was brown. As instructed by the CTA worker, I got on the next pink line train and got off after 2 stops. As I was about to enter the office, another CTA employee was going up the steps and, low and behold, he was carrying what looked to be my laptop bag! What felt like a ton of bricks immediately leaped off of my shoulder. After saying many Thank You's, I quickly got on the correct train, the orange line. I made my flight with about 10 mins to spare and the flight to Denver was pretty un-eventful..thank goodness! I normally sleep on flights but I couldn't cos I just kept thinking about what had happened earlier that night and was so very thankful and yet felt soooo stupid for not paying attention to what I was doing: getting on the wrong train and leaving my laptop bag with both of my computers in there.... whew!
When I got out of the Denver Airport - I surprised to feel that - it was colder here than Chicago! I think I heard that it was only 5F! Brrrrrr! I was happy to see that Brenda and Sonoma swung by to pick me up. Cocoy wasn't able to come cos he went to a Rodeo with a neighbor of theirs. That would've been kinda cool to see - a Rodeo. :) Since I arrived pretty late that night, there wasn't much to do except to just hang out and catch up with Cocoy, while the girls went to bed.
The following day, I woke up early and went to work with Cocoy - their house isn't so big and so the only place that I could find some peace and quiet to work and also have my conference call(s) was the garage. Yep, I had to come into the house every so often in order to warm myself up. Suffice it to say, I didn't get so much work done... That night, Cocoy, Sonoma, and myself went to REI and I ended up splurging on a North Face Softshell Jacket. It feels very light, it stretches a bit, and its wind resistant. Oh, and its also water resistant. I liked it a lot and decided to splurge on what I hope is a jacket that I can keep for a long time...we'll have to see.
Today, even though I didn't have to work, I still woke up relatively early and was able to take Sonoma and walk her to her school. The classroom was really nice and her classmates seemed to all be nice...obviously, I was only there for a few minutes. I'm sure they all can be a handful throughout the day. I don't envy the teachers as I barely can keep up with Sonoma and Vivian haha. So far, I really haven't much of anything cos Cocoy has to work still. Since we really haven't had a chance to get out of the house, I haven't had a chance to take many photos at all. I hope to be able to take tons of photos tomorrow as we're supposed to go to the mountains right after Sonoma attends ballet class. I'll post more pics in the next few days....
As always, I wish my baby was here to enjoy this beautiful city and to also meet my little nieces. They are sooo cute!! :-)
Ano baby? Road trip tayo dito later this year? That way, we can stretch the black widow's legs too! :-)
